UFOs in Nevada holds the record for non-disaster news stories

"White Pine Lights: UFO Sightings in Eastern Nevada holds the record for non-disaster news stories" reports Senior Journalist Ed Pierce of KOLO News Channel 8, the ABC Television Network Affiliate in Reno, Nevada.

It seems that the management at KOLO News Channel 8 is keen on the traffic to their website generated by stories produced by the award winning KOLO News Team. When Ed Pierce accompanied The Mutual UFO Network's Nevada State Director Mark Easter to Ely, Nevada to follow an official UFO investigation, little did he know his story on UFOs in Nevada would set a record for a single day of nearly 28 thousand hits to the KOLO TV8 website.

That was the web traffic to the story recorded in just a single day. The average is about 900 to 1,200 hits for a news story posted on the web. The news story he produced remained in the top 10 to 20 reports posted to the KOLO TV website for almost 2 weeks.

That's a news story in itself.

On the other hand, is it really news? Seems these days it's normal that the majority of our world's population has an interest in UFO news. A surprise to most is how objective and balanced Ed Pierce's report actually was. Until recently, the majority of tv news journalists have handled the subject of UFOs with ridicule and overt skepticism. Ed Pierce did a great job of just reporting the facts in a professional and informative way.

And Ed Pierce wasn't the only journalist that recognized the scoop about UFO's in Nevada. Bill Brown, the anchor/reporter from CBS Affiliate KTVN TV2 also did an acceptional news story on Nevada MUFON's investigation of UFO reports in Northeast Nevada. It seems that these days news organizations are realizing that it's more appealing to their audience if the subject of UFOs is reported more objectively.

And what about the actual UFO investigation in Nevada? At this time the initial case reports (multiple) for the UFO sightings near Ely, Nevada are still under investigation with more reports coming to MUFON's On-Line UFO Report Form about this particular case thanks to KOLO TV8's comprehensive news coverage of the investigation.

Bottom line:

What was seen by these individual witnesses is described as large amber-orange to dark red steady glowing lights the size of a dime held at arms length. Some were reported as stationary in the sky, appearing like a light switch turning on, then in a few seconds switching off. They would then re-appear seconds later miles away in another part of the sky One witness recorded this phenomenon with her home video camera.

By the end of this particular sighting (October 2nd, 2009) the three witnesses stated that at least five military jets showed up where the UFOs had been spotted.

At another geographical location on a different night several employees at the Ruth Mining Operation near Ely, Nevada witnessed the same amber orange lights in the sky
but this time they ascended from behind a nearby mountain range and then sped off in a Southerly direction at a velocity described as unmatched by any jet fighter operated by our Air Force.

There have been past reports to MUFON in Nevada about UFOs appearing consistently near mining operations in the Silver State as well as near oil drilling rigs and processing facilities. These stories and reports don't normally reach your local tv news channels.

UFO Researcher Coming To Ely This Saturday!

(Ely, NV) Due to recent reports of unidentified flying objects being reported by concerned citizens of Ely and surrounding areas in White Pine County, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) will be coming to the Prospector Hotel this Saturday, November 14th, 2009 to give a free public presentation about MUFON and discuss the area's recent UFO sightings. The presentation will be given in the convention hall at the Prospector Hotel Saturday evening at 6:00 p.m., doors open for seating at 5:30 p.m.

This presentation will be given by Mark Easter, who is MUFON's Nevada State Director as well as MUFON's International Director of Public Relations. Mark is also a MUFON Certified Field Investigator and will be conducting an on-site UFO Field investigation the entire weekend in Ely and surrounding areas.

"Due to the increased amount of recent UFO sightings in White Pine County, including video evidence recorded by a credible witness, we feel it is important to get boots on the ground to do a comprehensive investigation" says Mark Easter, "and we are looking to talk with anyone who may have witnessed UFO activity in the area and has yet to report it."

4th Kind, The Movie

Yesterday I drove to my local Cineplex to see the much touted movie "The 4th Kind." With all the media hype and chatter on the internet, I felt I should experience for myself what the hubub is all about. Alien abduction of humans on our planet is one of the strangest and least understood categories of the blooming onion we call the UFO phenomenon. I must say that this movie is intriguing, terrifying and bold in it's implications.

The first thing I noticed before the lights dimmed was that most of the theater going crowd had already been abducted. I had expected a huge line of movie goers eager to experience a purported true story of alien abduction from the far reaches of Alaska. If the theater I was in was any indication, the producers of this film may end up with a break even at best. At least for an opening weekend.

The lead actor Milla Jojovich did a great job of portraying the fictional character of Dr. Abigal Tyler, but I must admit the whole time she was on screen I expected her to bust out the automatic firearms and start blasting aliens, ala her previous film roles as the super human hybrid in the popular "Resident Evil" movie series. Sometimes it is difficult to get past Hollywood type casting, but I must admit that I was able to accept her portrayal of Dr. Tyler as the story unfolded.

The movie gets right to it and reveals that the secluded town of Nome, Alaska has been a literal epicenter for strangeness involving repeated nocturnal visits on it's town folk by an unseen and terrifying force. There is nothing pleasant about the purported visitations, and the actors that portrayed these abduction victims took it over the top in some gripping moments of regressive hypnotherapy. There are a couple of "gotcha" moments that made me glad I visited the men's room before I settled in to watch this movie.

If you are sensitive in nature, this may not be a film you will want to watch. If there is any truth at all to this overall story of abduction experiences in Alaska, the "4th Kind" movie will be a milestone for hypnotherapists around the world. Taking your children to see this film is not suggested as there are some graphic scenes of violence towards the family unit that will leave emotional scars on any loving family.

Did these events really happen in Nome, Alaska? It's hard to say. Just keep in mind that it's Hollywood's job and business to sell movie tickets. Hopefully someone with a lot of patience will do a Freedom of Information Act request to the Alaska office of the F.B.I. to see if it's true that the town of Nome, Alaska was investigated over 2,000 times for missing persons, homicides and suicides.

Just remember, it's only a movie!

Ghosts On A Plane!

(Liberal, Kansas) Halloween Night, 2009 brought ghosts and flying saucers to the Mid-America Air Museum in the Land of Oz, Liberal, Kansas.

With over 100 historic war planes, helicopters, experimental planes, education centers for children and adults, and a comprehensive aviation library, the Mid-America Air Museum is the 5th largest of it's kind in the United States.

Fun was had by all who attended the museum's "Haunted Hanger" Halloween Event that featured chilling ghost stories told inside the huge air hanger to crowds of un-nerved kids and parents!

Mark Easter, the International Director of Public Relations for the The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) was also on hand during the event and offered a comprehensive presentation on the past, present and future of UFO investigations. A non-profit organization, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) is the largest UFO investigative network on the planet.

"MUFON has brought UFO investigating into the 21st Century," says Mark. "Our misson is the scientific investigation and research of UFOs for the benefit of humanity."

(Groom Lake, NV) The History Channel's new feature series "MysteryQuest" airing this coming Wednesday, Oct. 14th at 10pm will feature a Certified Field Investigator from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) who embarks on an expedition to the Jumbled Hills of Southern Nevada and the Black Hole known by many names including Watertown, The Groom Lake Country Club and Area-51.

A spin-off of the widely popular "MonsterQuest" show, MysteryQuest is a new series that dispatches teams of experts throughout the world to try to solve some of mankind's strangest and most persistent mysteries. MUFON's Mark Easter, who is the Nevada State Director for the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) as well as a Certified Field Investigator and MUFON's Director of Public Relations, was invited to take part in an expedition with the MysteryQuest crew to the Extraterrestrial Highway and Area-51.

Mark teamed with Peter Merlin who is the NASA AMES Research Historian on an expedition with MysteryQuest to uncover the truth about a recently declassified Black Project known as The OxeCart Program. For a facility that doesn't exist, there was a lot of activity that happened during the Cold War in this C.I.A. sponsored secret base of operations and testing!

Triple digit heat in the Southern Nevada Desert! Searching the scorching desert floor for debris overlooked after the crash of an unidentified flying object associated with Area-51! An expedition to the South and North Gates of Area-51 and beyond! The History Channel's MysteryQuest production crew left no stone unturned on this expedition which included a long and breathtaking mountain climb to Tikaboo Peak which is the only vantage point left in the valley where the public can see into Area-51.

"The MysteryQuest team set a record by bringing with them the largest telephoto lense ever set up on Tikaboo Peak so we could look farther into the base than anyone has dared," says Mark Easter. "Half way up the mountain our crew was buzzed by an extremely low flying 2 seater F-16 that literally screamed through the mountain gorge we were climbing," Mark recalls, laughing, shaking his head and adding, "the production crew had to hire four highschool boys from Alamo, Nevada just to lift and carry the huge shipping case for the lense to the top of the mountain. I could only imagine what was going through the pilot and co-pilot's minds in that jet as they made their third pass through the gorge."

The entire crew froze in their tracks on that mountainside waiting to see what would happen next. They didn't have to wait long!

Mark continues painting the picture of what was happening to him in this helpless and vulnerable situation, "The roaring jet was bad enough, but next came the black helicopter that proceeded to circle overhead while the History Channel producer was on her cell phone talking with History Channel lawyers about how we all will be bailed out of jail."

The Mutual UFO Network leads the pack in UFO Disclosure.

I am excited to share with you MUFON's mission of scientifically investigating and studying UFOs for the benefit of humanity. For those who do not know, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) has been a dedicated non-profit UFO investigative organization since 1969!

Others only talk about UFOs... MUFON investigates!

To adequately answer questions about current and future UFO "Disclosure" in European countries and in the U.S.A. I'll need to describe the big picture in what I call the "Needle AND the Haystack." In my definition the "Needle" and the "Haystack" are both words I use to describe ALL UFO sighting reports.

Here's the equation for those of you who love statistics!

In all these years of UFO events that have happened around the globe and the subsequent investigations by MUFON's Certified Field Investigators, (F.I.s) MUFON has concluded thus far that at least 90% to 96% of ALL reports of UFOs in the sky reported by credible witnesses can be positively identified as a natural phenomenon, something that is man made in origin, or blatant hoaxes. That being said, MUFON is here to tell you that true UFOs are real and this phenomenon deserves study by an organization that follows a strict code of ethics and adheres to scientific protocol.

Each case that MUFON investigates is unique. Our F.I.'s investigate objectively with boots on the ground, eyes on the location, gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses with utmost respect for their well being and anonymity, and most importantly letting the evidence speak for itself. Just the facts.

Now back to the statistics. The "Haystack" would be 90% of UFO reports positively identifiable, plus another 6% would be the questionable cases that could possibly be true "unknowns" but there is not enough evidence to draw a positive conclusion.

96%. That's a big Haystack!

So what about the remaining 4% of the equation? The remaining 4% of reported UFO cases that cannot be identified as man made or natural phenomenon are the UFO cases that have kept MUFON interested and actively leading the field of Ufology since 1969.

Just imagine the positive implications that would befall humanity if we could obtain the technologies associated with these unknown crafts and the intelligence that operates them!

You can be sure that every military in every country along with it's associated government system is equally interested in that 4% and the power it will bestow upon whom ever discovers the secrets behind the technology!

What or who powers and controls these incredible machines? I will leave those answers to you and your own imagination. I simply call these confirmed 4% of UFO reports the "NEEDLE."

Needle AND a Haystack!

Let's imagine a scenario; the lucky or unlucky day that you or anyone reading this article happens to see something strange in the sky that at first glance seems out of the ordinary. Depending on the individual, the affect a perceived UFO event can have on people range from simple curiosity to shock, insecurity and the questioning of one's belief mechanism. If a citizen reports a UFO to the local authorities in most any city anywhere on this planet, unless the occupant of the UFO craft is robbing a convenience store or selling drugs to kids, the police pass it off as fantasy.

Do keep in mind that the dispatch operator that answers your call will write down or enter in a daily log your UFO report in some fashion or another. Calls are recorded. Will the police actually investigate your call? Probably not. But your UFO report is eventually thrown into the "Haystack."

Now, let's imagine that the local authorities laughed at you when you gathered the nerve to make the call in the first place! You are patriotic and you feel it's a matter of national security and the military should know. So you call the nearest military base in your country and make your UFO report. You may get transferred to the Public Relations Officer at the base who's trained response is, "The military no longer investigates UFOs."

I can guarantee you that the statement this individual tells you is both the truth, and a lie. The military is not interested in the "Haystack" consisting of the 96% that I described earlier. But you can be damned sure that they are extremely interested in that 4% which I call the "Needle". Just like when you call your local police, when you call the military they are going to enter for the record in some fashion or another your reported UFO information whether they publicly act on it or not.

This reported information ends up either in the "Haystack," or if it is a confirmed and genuine UFO in the 4%, it will be pursued secretly as it always has been. If you trust your military with that elusive 4% of UFO technology your tax dollars will eventually pay for bigger and better bombs and swifter ways to deliver them.

Why can't the public have access to this technology? Imagine the good that could come from understanding this yet undiscovered advancement in sciences! The possibilities of the positive affects these "secrets" would have for every citizen on this planet are staggering. Of course I'm preaching to the choir here since there are now millions upon millions of individuals on this planet who have realized the UFO truth and are demanding Disclosure from our Governments.

Why are Governments choosing to Disclose certain UFO information to the public?

If enough taxpayers become agitated about the UFO problem, a nation cannot run smoothly with citizens stepping off the proverbial treadmill. There has now come a time in this planet's history when our leaders have decided to "release" it's passive UFO information in order to calm the masses.

Just short of saying "we admit we have been lying to you all these years" our Governments are coming forward with "the GOODS." In some cases there have been "stacks upon stacks" of previous UFO reports and information turned over to the public. That's good news, right? Well it's good news that our leaders are bending enough to release the "Haystack" of UFO reports we've seen so far.

Oops! Did I mention the word "Haystack" again? I hope you are getting my point. Our Governments may bend, but they will never break and release any information about that elusive 4% of UFO truth. MUFON has realized this fact since 1969. That is why the Mutual UFO Network exists today and is leading the field of civilian UFO studies as we seek the truth in this new millennium!

MUFON remains objective. We do not laugh at a witness and ridicule them. We love UFO investigations and every aspect of our mission. To get to the UFO truth, having patience is a virtue. MUFON has it's own "Haystack" of UFO reports and we never let our guards down because someday soon we will discover the truth behind that 4%... that proverbial "Needle IN THE Haystack!"

NORAD exercise flights planned over Nevada skies

TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. – The Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR), a geographical component of the North American Aerospace Defense Command, will conduct exercise flights Oct. 8 in the skies over western Nevada.

The flights will take place in the late morning and early afternoon and people can expect to hear and see NORAD fighter aircraft as they practice their intercept and identification procedures.

The exercise has been carefully planned and will be closely controlled to ensure NORAD’s rapid response capability. NORAD has conducted exercise flights of this nature throughout the U.S. and Canada since the start of Operation Noble Eagle, the command’s response to the terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001.

As the Continental United States geographical component of the bi-national command NORAD, CONR provides airspace surveillance and control, and directs air sovereignty activities for the CONUS region. CONR and its assigned Air Force and Army assets throughout the country ensure air safety and security against potential air threats.

the "UNKNOWN" factor

UFOs are real and it still boils down to about three to four percent of all sightings reported that are classified as a bonified unknown.

The term "unknown" is loosely associated with this particular phenomenon in as it provides a very large box to toss every UFO sighting event into.

An Unidentified Flying Object can immediately be "IDENTIFIED" as a "ROUND ORB OF BRIGHT AMBER/ORANGE LIGHT IN THE SKY," or a "CIGAR SHAPED DULL METAL COLORED OBJECT," or a classic report of a "DISC SHAPED OBJECT."

These descriptions seen in a UFO report can identify initially what shape, color, luminance, possible material composition, I hope you get the picture here.

How these objects are powered and who powers them is the "UNKNOWN" factor and the questions that need to be answered through sound investigation using a scientific and methodical protocol.

All humanity could benefit from the knowledge gained from discovering the "UNKNOWN" truth.

NASA rocket launch brings UFO reports to MUFON

NASA's recent launch of a Black Brant XII suborbital sounding rocket that spewed exhaust particles 173 miles (278 kilometers) above Earth accounted for multiple on-line UFO reports this weekend to MUFON's On-Line UFO Reporting System.

Even though the event was a man-made object being tested by NASA and our military, it's good to know that citizen's are aware of MUFON's UFO reporting system and made the effort to report what they saw.

If the event had not been a rocket launched by NASA, MUFON would have had a lot of work to do for our certified field investigators. Having a single event with multiple witnesses in different regions makes for a great UFO investigation.

The curious thing about this event is the mission of the rocket launch itself.

Here's a quote from Space.com:

"Scientists will use the measurements of the artificial cloud to better understand natural noctilucent clouds, as well as help predict the effects of rocket engine exhaust in the upper atmosphere."

The effects of rocket engine exhaust in the upper atmosphere? Just how many rocket engines in the upper atmosphere can we expect in the future?

Makes me wonder what's up when government agencies and the military do experiments like this.

Fear of the UNKNOWN

I've always stated that the"ridicule factor" associated with the UFO phenomenon is triggered by a fear of the unknown. When a UFO skeptic makes jokes about the subject, he or she is using humor as a simple way to comfort themselves and avoid exploring a subject that conflicts with their grounded belief system.

Take my personal example of using laughter to distact from my own fears. When I watch a really frightening horror movie, and the scary monster is about to jump out of the shadows, my mind instantly goes into comedy mode and I think of the funny joke I just heard, or the funny movie I saw the week before. Anything to soften the frightening jolt I am about to experience.

Laughter is the best medicine and we all need a good laugh. But when skeptics offer nothing of substance to back up their claims that UFOs are just fantasy and all UFO witnesses are crackpots that should be laughed at, they are using ridicule to mask their own fears.

My view on the "ridicule factor" was brought to light this morning when I read at Telegraph.co.uk a comment posted by "Mike" on a story about Google's use of flying saucers and crop circles associated with their logo on the internet. The article about Google's mingling of UFOs with their web logo was interesting enough, but it was Mike's comment that says it all:

"I don't believe in crop circles being made by UFOs/ETs. Aliens scare me, anything I don't understand scares me, so I dismiss the possibility of them existing.

Skeptics RULE!!!"

So, the next time a UFO skeptic laughs at you for having an interest in UFOs, especially if you are fortunate enough to have witnessed a UFO event, simply ask that skeptic what they are afraid of. Turn the table and laugh at them for their closed minded attitude.

UFOs are real. What they are, who pilots them and where they come from I honestly cannot say. But I am not afraid to explore the unknown with an open mind.

There will always be skeptics. Don't let a skeptic's fear of the unknown influence your own judgement.
